PHOTO UNIT 19:  FLORAL DEVELOPMENT

This unit contains a series of floral development studies of three species.  Floral whorls include the calyx (sepals), corolla (petals), androecium (stamens) and gynoecium (carpels).  They don’t necessarily appear in that order…it depends on the species.  See if you can identify as you move through the developmental phases, the order in which each whorl of appendages appear.  Also recognize the change in the shape of the shoot apex as it shifts from the vegetative to the flowering status.
